Rangers (from Trapeang Rung and Veal Pi stations) waited 24 hours to ambushed a driver who was illegally transporting 178kg rosewood in a silver Camry car speeding on National Road 48. The hot pursuit ended when the suspect abandoned the car and fled the scene in the middle of the night. The rangers transported the car and rosewood to the station.

Phnom-Tnout-Wildlife-Sanctuary-illegal-loggers-poachers-hunters-Wildlife-AllianceOn Aug 23, 2018 Wildlife Alliance law enforcement unit conducted a patrol to Phnom Tnout Wildlife Sanctuary (Prey Romdeng area, Tabos village, Sdao commune, Sangkum Thmei district, Preah Vihear province).
Wildlife Alliance rangers seized three mechanical buffalo carrying luxury timber: Rosewood: 2.128m3 (0.625 Phacheok, 0.66 Kreul, 0.843 Thnong), 2 chainsaws 2 homemade guns with 80 bullets, 1 set for electric fishing and 40 meters for net wildlife traps.
Five people have been arrested for luxury timber transportation, illegal logging and poaching. Ministry Of Environment officers filled the documentation and submitted the case to Preah Vihear Court.
All the evidence were confiscated as state property and the man convicted to prison between 5 and 10 years.
* On May 02, 2018 the Ministry of Environment requested to Wildlife Alliance for urgent intervention to stop forest destruction and crack down on all illegal activities in Phnom Tnout Wildlife Sanctuary. Works to be done in close collaboration with Provincial Department of Environment, Phnom Tnout Wildlife Sanctuary, Royal Gendarmerie of Cambodia and local authorities at all levels.
